The aromas are very floral and aromatic with rose petal and jasmine notes followed by mango and melon. On the palate the wine has a dry entry with lemon and key lime citrus which expands into lychee and Japanese melon. The finish displays subtle clove and snappy, juicy citron lemon.
90 PTS, Wine Enthusiast, Best Buy "This golden-hued wine offers concentrated aromas of baked fruit, citrus blossom, cinnamon and notes of toasted vanilla on the nose. The flavors on the palate are supple baked apple, Asian pear, clove and pineapple cream, with mineral on the finish. Best Buy.” — T.P
90 PTS, Wine Enthusiast, Best Buy "Layered aromas dried red berries, cocoa, earth and notes of dried florals dominate the nose on this wine. The finish has concentrated mulberry, boysenberry, clove and pink-grapefruit vanilla cream. Decant and pair with grilled pork chop and onion marmalade. Best Buy.” — T.P.
89 PTS, Wine Enthusiast "This selection is for the classic cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon drinker. Dark berries, herbal notes, and earth represent a different age of winemaking and a regional expression. The flavors on the palate are pretty generous, with Blackberry jam, cassis, tomato leaf, dried tarragon, and grippy tannins on the finish.” — T.P
91 PTS, Wine Enthusiast "Soft aromas of sea salt, baked apple, lemon and hazelnut make for a classic nose on this bottling. There's a slow-rising acidity on the palate, where honeysuckle, baked pear and toasted-pastry flavors align." - MK
The color of this Burgundian inspired fine Pinot Noir is medium garnet and aged in 2 year old French Oak barrels for 18 months on its natural lees with no racking. Thearomas of this wine are of ripe black cherry with some leather and earth notes in the backdrop. The ripe cherry is sappy and rich on the palate and the wine finishes with an elegant silky texture best described as supple and combines well with the strawberry, raspberry coulis and a suggestion of spicy clove and cinnamon.
89 PTS, Wine Enthusiast "Dark strawberry, graphite and sandalwood aromas make for a mellow nose on this bottling. The palate shows a touch more density, with blackberry, crushed thyme and anise flavors, as herbs give balance to the thicker mouthfeel." - M. K.
While excellent on its own this wine pairs well with any grilled steak topped with sauted wild mushrooms and best with roasted fingerling potatoes and sauted baby spinach. We've had this with Black Forrest cake and Cuban cigars with great delight.
The color is a very pale straw color with aromas of verbena lemon, dried wild raspberry with faint sandalwood and wet stone mineral notes. The palate enters as ripe, tart green apple, fresh Kadota fig with guava and light passion fruit.
This organically grown Cabernet Sauvignon is from Cox Vineyard in Ukiah within Mendocino County. This vineyard has been certified organic for over 30 years and farmed by Chuck Vau.
92 PTS, James Suckling "Notes of dark berries with dried rosemary and sage. Hints of spices and dry earth, too. Full body. Sleek and polished texture with fine, silky tannins and delicious dark fruit underneath. Lingering finish. Very polished. Drink or hold."
91 PTS, James Suckling "Lush blackberries, chili chocolate and spices on the nose that follow through to a tight and lightly chewy palate with a spicy dark fruit core and a lengthy, creamy finish. Better from 2024."
92 PTS, Robert Parker “Bottled just five days before I tasted it, the 2021 Typesetter Cabernet Sauvignon shows more lifted, floral aromas than the compact 2020, with varietal notes of black cherries and blackberries on the nose. It's a medium to full-bodied effort, concentrated and firm across the mid-palate, then finishes long and velvety. Typesetter is produced from purchased bulk wine, so expect the quality (and presumably the sourcing, although in classic négociant fashion that's undisclosed) to vary somewhat more than usual from vintage to vintage. This 2021 is a super value.”
